Welcome to our new directed study instructional assistant, Mrs. Vassiliki Lyras! She graduated from Beaver College/Arcadia University with a degree in early childhood and elementary education and worked as a pre-school teacher. She fell in love with the raw and wild beauty of Alaska and ended up living there for 12 years. She worked in the school system as a substitute teacher, an English as a Second Language tutor for Native students, and a deaf interpreter. After living in New Jersey for a few years, she moved to Maryland and is married with two daughters. She has a homestead with chickens, goats, three cats, one dog ,and lots of veggies. She loves being outdoors and digging in the dirt, reading, sewing, canning, and staying active. #ColonelTOUGH

Student scientists in Mrs. Smith's AP Biology class designed and conducted their own experiments to determine the effect of various factors on the taxis behavior of pillbugs (roly polys). After collecting their data today, they will use statistics to analyze their data and report their results to the rest of the class. #ColonelTOUGH

Students in Mrs. Smith's biology class were studying the digestive systems of various animals. They collected data and calculated the lengths of sections of the digestive system of various animals. They then created graphs to compare the digestive systems of carnivores, herbivores ,and omnivores. Groups then combined all their graphs to create a Digestive System Gallery Walk where student scientists talked about the patterns they observed as they analyzed their results. #ColonelTOUGH
